Scholarships and Financial Aid


Where do you Start?

Step One:  
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The application determines how much money the Federal government or other organizations will give or loan students to help pay for college.  You must complete the application during the window (October 1st-January 16th) to receive the Hope and or TN Promise Scholarships.


Step Two:  
Apply for the Tennessee Promise Scholarship

Provides two years of tuition-free attendance at a community college or technical school in Tennessee.  Seniors must apply during the window of August 1- November 15th of their senior year, attend mandatory meetings, and complete 8 hours of community service the semester before the start of their freshman year of college.

Educate your self about scholarships using sites like Scholarship Informer  and

Begin your scholarship search based on what you learned from your research.  FASTWEB is generally listed as the top site for scholarship searches.

Maintain a 3.0 high school GPA and/or make a 21+ on the ACT to become 
Tennessee HOPE Scholarship eligible. The HOPE scholarship awards $4,000 per school year to a Tennessee four-year university.
